Are you worried about finding a good editor who will perfect your paper’s English while understanding the nuances of your research? I can help with my broad range of expertise in the agricultural sciences and background in editing. I am a very precise editor and can give your paper the close attention that it needs. The only agricultural area that I lack confidence in editing is animal science.

1) Highly experienced journal and freelance editor, who has edited thousands of papers by non-native English speakers (and some by native English speakers).
2) Formal academic training in plant pathology and other plant sciences, microbiology, biochemistry, soil science, entomology and natural products chemistry (research experience with polyphenolics, isoflavonoids, catechins, ionones and carotenoids).
3) A talented writer, which helps me rewrite awkward English.
4) Expertise in converting between US and UK English.
5) Experienced at editing in two manners:
• Minimal editing to defer to the author (most native English speakers)
• Very thorough editing to make every change possible (most Chinese authors)
1) Your paper will be easier to read and understand, which should lead to a greater appreciation of your research.
2) The improvement in quality will greatly increase the chances of its acceptance for publication.
I have reviewed the requirements of 239 agricultural journals and keep track of their impact factors, so I can help you select a journal that is more likely to accept your paper. There is an extra charge for work with impact factors.
Unlike many academics, I am outgoing, considered easy to work with and genuinely enjoy helping people – so much so that I was promoted to be the Customer Service Manager at a previous job.
In addition to my position as the English Editor of the Southwestern Entomologist, I edit for private clients and these companies:
• 51SciHelp, Chief Editor for Plant Science
• MogoEdit
• I have edited for 239 target journals.
I also edited for these companies in the past:
• American Journal Experts
• SCINET, Beijing Borun Innovation Technology Co., LTD
• Cactus Communications (copyediting)
I became the English Editor of the Southwestern Entomologist in 2014 and am highly experienced at editing the manuscripts of non-native English speakers. I have edited for 239 target journals. Click Here to see the complete list: Target Journals
MY RATE is $25 USD per 1000 words for non-native English speakers and discounted for native English speakers depending on the difficulty of the paper. I require a 60% downpayment and accept payment by PayPal or credit card.
Since you came to this site, you probably associate me with plants and microbes. However, I have experience editing in areas as diverse as AI and machine learning.
Here is a testimonial from one of my clients on Upwork, who had a 30-page document on machine learning that required editing:

“Absolutely fantastic editing work. We had a technical paper written by non-native English speakers; Helga revised it with great suggestions on everything from grammar to British to American English to overall flow to typos and other content edits. Extremely fast response and very happy with the work, would not hesitate to work with again.”
